2026-Mar. Spotlight: Patrick Palmer


Introducing Patrick Emile Palmer.


Mr. Patrick Palmer did his elementary schooling at the St. Joseph's Convent Elementary school and the Interim Municipal School, currently known as the Regent Square Municipal School. He commenced his Secondary School education at the CMS / Sierra Leone Grammar School in 1960; which he completed in 1967.


He went on to work for the Sierra Leone Elections Commission and subsequently for the Public Works Department (PWD), currently known as the Ministry of Works.

In August of 1969, Mr. Palmer embarked on the adventurous journey to the United States of America for further studies, arriving in 1970.

He earned an AA Degree in Business Administration from Washington Tech Institute and a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Howard University.

He was mainly involved in the Public service sector employment. In December 2015, Mr. Palmer retired from the Maryland state Govt., the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections Services.



 
 

The Sierra Leone Grammar School was founded on 25th March 1845 as Church Missionary Society (C.M.S.) Grammar School - the first secondary school in Sub-Saharan Africa. The school started with 14 pupils, drawn from students of Fourah Bay College and was housed at Regent Square in a massive building which still exists.
